FAQ

Why is the Adelaide Food Fringe cancelled?
The Adelaide Food Fringe Festival has been cancelled indefinitely, due to a combination of looming deadlines, lead times, and staffing, ultimately the financial sustainability has been forced to come to an end due to lack of funding, where the best possible version of Adelaide Food Fringe 2022 and beyond cannot be supported. You can read the full Media Release via the News section on our website.
Where can I find images of the festival?

Will Adelaide Food Fringe be back again?
Though we were forced to cancel the festival in 2022 due to funding, there’s no saying the Adelaide Food Fringe won’t be back one day. Whether we are able to secure government funding for the festival, or a third party steps in, there’s no telling what the future holds.
I need help promoting/marketing my event/business, where can I do this?

Our digital and social media manager Alexia Frangos will be running digital marketing until the end of June 2022, who will be promoting past Food Fringe venues and their new events via our socials and emails until then. If you need assistance with digital and creative marketing, Alexia runs her own agency, Lexicon. Email hello@thelexicon.com.au for any social media/copywriting/digital needs for your business.

How many events did the festival have in 2021?
There were over 150 food and beverage events held right across South Australia over the 10 day festival period, including Aldinga, Renmark, Port Lincoln, Victor Harbor, Coomandook, Campbelltown, Clare, Port Adelaide, McLaren Vale, Adelaide CBD, Mannum, Watervale, Gawler, Glenelg, Barossa Valley, Henley Beach, Croydon, and Prospect to name a few.
How much did Adelaide Food Fringe donate to Foodbank SA?
In 2020, we pledged 10 percent of Adelaide Food Fringe’s net registration fee income directly to Foodbank. However due to the extra demand COVID placed on Foodbank in 2020, we donated 100% of our net registration fees collected providing 1,080 meals to people doing it tough in SA.

In 2021, we donated 8,388 meals through Foodbank via registration fees and events in our program pledging a part of their profit to Foodbank.

Due to the cancellation of the festival in 2022 and beyond, we were able to donate another $10,000 to Foodbank SA, resulting in donating 30,000 meals to the organisation in just 2.5 years.

What was the Adelaide food fringe festival?

In 2021, the Adelaide Food Fringe was a 100% open access food and drink festival that supported and celebrated South Australia’s spectacular food and beverage industry across 9 days from 7 – 16 May 2021.

A food and beverage festival for everyone, with a program of events created by South Australia’s diverse hospitality industry and grassroots communities. The 9 day program featured businesses, venues, multicultural communities and institutions that inspired creative, cultural and accessible food and drink events held across the state.

Adelaide Food Fringe was NOT a fenced-off, stall-based festival! It was to discover and experience the rich culture and local produce our great state has to offer. The festival ran all over SA, at bars, pubs, restaurants, cafes, wineries, farms, clubs, venues, schools, markets, museums, parks… even your own backyard!

The Adelaide Food Fringe also held the world’s first International Pub Week! This unique celebration highlighted the culinary, cultural, social and economic impact of our Pubs for one whole week, from Sunday 9 May to Sunday 16 May. A whole week that featured special offers, events and stories behind the publicans, patrons and people that make our pubs integral to SA’s identity.

While the festival celebrated the expansive food and beverage industry, we recognise not everyone has the privilege to feed themselves or their families – that’s why since the beginning we committed to working with Foodbank as our charity partner to fight food insecurity in South Australia.
